01:01 ringo1  are there any "global" variables in VLC?
01:01 ringo1  I need one to signal a dying chain
01:01 tonsofpcs  dying chain?
01:02 ringo1  endof file
01:02 ringo1  for an input
01:02 ringo1  I need to find out in the encoder that we have reached end of file
01:04 tonsofpcs  why would the encoder care?
01:18-!- cartman [ismail@kde/ismail] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
01:21 ringo1  it needs to flush the buffer …. some encoders need a certain number of samples and will wait until they have that many

01:32 tonsofpcs  but EOF is not the end of what needs to be encoded.
01:34 tonsofpcs  that said, I'd think that there has to be a 'close file' or 'close stream' signal sent to the encoder somehow... I'm not sure who has written encoders so I can't say who to ask, but I'd bet the core devs would know.  Have you tried the vlc-devel list?
01:35 ringo1  no, I will try that next … but I have seen the code in many encoders and nothing appears to be checked

07:01 mgalgs  I've successfully backed up around 30 of my DVDs, there are just a handful that seem to have this problem...
07:02 mgalgs  For example, `Cars' consistently errors out with this sense code thing 450MB in. Every time...

15:41 mru  the 180% is relative to _one_ cpu

16:01 ILEoo  wbs: and live doesn't require anything special from http server?
16:02 ringo1  you need several things …. (1) my heavily hacked avformat mux module, (2) wbs libav branch … (3) any aac encoder will do
16:02 wbs  ringo1: most of your stuff shouldn't require my branch? the only stuff from there is the example fdk-aac decoder right?
16:02 fyhuel  well, I'll try to create some content with MS Encoder Pro, to see if I can put non-TTML subtitles
16:02 wbs  everything else should be in mainline git

23:50 xtophe  well try running moc then
23:51 irctc975  i'm just wondering.. i thought mingw-w64 is able to build 64bit win application.. but does it also need ubuntu 64bit?
23:51 luckz  <linkfanel> is vlc still reading from the http stream? <- I can answer this now. it still shows as playing (pause button), in codec information it still shows the codec on the source end, but in statistics everything shows "0" and it is not actually still connected to the source -- the source shows no connection anymore.
23:52 xtophe  irctc975: no
23:52 luckz  and my problem is a lot like http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=95364 I guess?
23:53 irctc975  then I don't get it..
